Extremely rare FN-BMW 327/80, Fixed Head Coupe with Volvo gearbox.
According to the FN Register of John Giles, only 14 FN 327/80 Coupes were built/imported into the U.K. and less than 10 of them are believed to have survived worldwide.
The car, chassis no. 74224, Autenried Kom.No. 8805, was imported by AFN Ltd. in 1938 and registered by the first owner under Reg.No. FGH8 in the same year.
FGH8 was used in the 1940s for many sporting events in the U.K. with outstanding results – records for this are available - and later in rallies such as “The Flying Scotsman”, three times, and also in several events in Ireland.
In 2012/2013 the engine of the car underwent a total re-build by Thornley Kelham UK (TK Engineering), under the personal supervision of John Giles. This work was subsequently inspected and finalized by Messrs. Feierabend, the internationally well known specialist for BMW 328s.
In 2016 the car was sent to Messrs. Feierabend for a full mechanical overhaul with no costs being spared. More than 200 photos are available to document this work carried out by Messrs. Feierabend. These photos are also documenting exchange parts which were used during this overhaul.
The cost for both the above works exceeded £100,000 -- and is fully documented.
The car has been driven regularly since, in order to avoid any possible “standing damage”, but less than 5.000 miles since the rebuild of the engine and less than 2.000 miles since the mechanical overhaul. The car has also been regularly serviced.
FGH8 drives extremely well and can be used at any event in the sporting calendar without any work being needed. The paintwork (blue/creme) is in very good condition and so is the interior (blue leather).
The BMW – ID Certificate is also available for FGH8.
